Terms and conditions for the 2025 HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards.

Midwife of the Year

  1. Finalists in the Midwife of the Year category will be invited to attend the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards dinner on Wednesday 14 May, 2025 in Melbourne, where the Midwife of the Year winner will receive $10,000 courtesy of ME, to be used for personal or professional development or further development of processes or services in the workplace.
  2. All prizes will be awarded on the condition that the finalists and winner agree to accept their prize in person by attending the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards dinner to be held on the date listed in point 1 above. Finalist attendance at the awards presentation is not transferable. HESTA may alter its events at any time in response to Government recommendations related to social distancing measures, and if the best decision for the event is to move it online or even postpone, HESTA will advise attendees accordingly.
  3. The prize for finalists includes: 2 x tickets to attend the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards dinner to be held on the date listed in point 1 above, 1 x economy class airfare to the capital city where the awards dinner is held from the finalists' nearest capital city, and 1 night's accommodation in a standard twin share room at a hotel nominated by the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards organising committee, close to the dinner venue. All transfers to and from airports will be at the finalists' expense unless otherwise stated in correspondence. A credit card will be required to cover any incidental expenses in the hotel.
  4. Each finalist in the Midwife of the Year category will be presented with an award in recognition of their achievement. The winner will be chosen from the finalists and announced at the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards dinner, to be held on the date listed in point 1 above. The overall winner will be presented with an award, in recognition of their achievement, together with $10,000 courtesy of proud Awards sponsor ME, to be used for personal or professional development or further development of processes or services in the workplace.
  5. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
  6. Only those nominees that make it through to the shortlist will be notified by phone and/or email after the nomination close-off date by a representative of the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards. 
  7. Finalist’s details such as name, employer/workplace, and other details in relation to the nomination will be released to the media prior to the awards dinner.
  8. HESTA, the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards and ME, reserve the right to use any entries, photographs, video, media and/or articles pertaining to the finalists and winners of this award, in relation to the awards, for future promotional purposes without any further reference, payment or other compensation to the finalists/winners. 
  9. Finalists in the Midwife of the Year category must be a Midwife holding a current practising certificate with the Nursing Board/Council in their State or Territory.
  10. Finalists, and their nominators and seconders, and other referees including their employer, agree to be contacted by a representative of the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards to verify any information submitted and the eligibility of the nominee.
  11. Nominators must gain the consent of the nominee's employer before making a nomination and confirm this on the nomination form. Any nomination form that does not indicate consent will be disregarded. 
  12. The Judging Panel’s decision is final and made at its sole and complete discretion. No correspondence will be entered into. The Judging Panel and organisers of the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards retain full discretion in the awarding of prizes.
  13. Award nominees retain responsibility to maintain an appropriate standard of professional conduct, and must immediately notify HESTA if they are or become the subject of any investigation, findings, judgement of current proceeding, including but limited to findings, in relation to fraud, misrepresentation or dishonesty, in any administrative, civil or criminal proceedings in any country, and must declare to HESTA if any standard of professional conduct has been compromised.
  14. Award nominees retain responsibility to not engage in conduct which brings or has the potential to bring HESTA into disrepute.
  15. HESTA reserves the right to, at any time, verify a nomination or nominee, and disqualify a nominee HESTA has reason to believe has submitted an entry not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, or has engaged in conduct that has the potential to bring HESTA into disrepute.
  16. For every submitted nomination the nominee will receive one certificate in recognition of their achievement and outstanding contribution to the nursing and midwifery sector. Certificates will be provided to nominators for presentation to their nominee.

 

 

Outstanding Organisation

  1. Finalists in the Outstanding Organisation category will be invited to attend the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards dinner on Wednesday 14 May, 2025 in Melbourne, where the overall winner will receive $10,000 to go towards further developing their product, service, process or system, courtesy of proud Awards sponsor ME. One representative will accept the prize on behalf of the organisation (organisation representative).
  2. All prizes will be awarded on the condition the finalists and winner agree to accept their prize in person by attending the HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards dinner to be held on the date listed in point 1 above. Finalist attendance at the awards dinner is not transferable.
