The Investment Committee works closely with our investments team and the Board to make strategic decisions on how we manage members’ money. It's another way we work to help you achieve your retirement goals.

The HESTA Investment Committee assists the Board to set the Fund’s investment objectives and ensures investment risks are monitored and managed.

 

The committee is also responsible for:     

  • monitoring all investment decisions to ensure they are made in accordance with Fund governance
  • ensuring the Trustee’s organisational structure and resources supports the investment objectives of HESTA, and
  • monitoring the performance and effectiveness of the investment strategy.

Meeting a minimum of six times a year, the Committee comprises:

Susanne (Sue) Dahn

Sue Dahn was appointed as an Independent Director in 2023. Sue has over 20 years experience as a superannuation trustee and as Chair of Investment Committees. She was also founder and principal of the independent investment advisory practice at Pitcher Partners Melbourne. Sue has chaired investment committees at ESS Super, AGEST Super, MTAA Super and Spirit Super.

In 2019 Sue was named the Barron’s Financial Adviser of the year and in 2021 she was awarded the AIST Trustee of the Year. Sue is a Fellow of AIST and the AICD and holds both B Com and MBA degrees from the University of Melbourne. She also holds qualifications in applied finance and investment and in risk management and corporate governance. Sue also serves as a Director of Breakthrough Victoria, Victorian Traditional Owners Funds Limited, Australian Communities Foundation, RMIT Council and is an advisor to the Investment Committees of numerous educational, charitable, industry and membership bodies.

Susan Darroch 

Susan Darroch

Susan is an investment professional, her career spanning over 30 years in the financial markets, with the focus of the last 20 years primarily on domestic and global equity markets with State Street Global Advisors. Susan retired from her position in 2019.

As a Senior Managing Director and senior leader in the business, her roles included board directorships, responsible manager of licenced entities, champion for diversity, a leader in developing local gender diversity policy and procedures, and the founder of the internal LGBTIQ+ network. Susan also devotes time to supporting charities and causes that are important to her. She was a non-executive director of the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation for seven years, and Chair of the Investment Committee for four years. Susan also supports and volunteers with a variety animal rescue organisations.

Susan joined The HESTA Investment Committee in December 2022, bringing with her an in-depth knowledge of global equity markets built upon over two decades in portfolio management. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
