Cherished Pets Community Veterinary Care from Ocean Grove, VIC are finalists in the 2019 HESTA Aged Care Awards
Recognised for providing ageing Australians with tailored, affordable veterinary and pet care support, fostering their wellbeing by helping them maintain the companionship and friendship with their pets.
Starting as a home-based service in 2015, Cherished Pets has grown to include a Community Pet Hub providing professional veterinary support and a place of connection, education and support for pet owners. The Community Pet Hub assists ageing Australians with the specific challenges they face when looking after their pets such as home pet care and the profits from full-fee clients contribute to reduced or pro-bono rates for older customers.
Scientifically shown to benefit personal wellbeing, pet ownership is an important component to improving and maintaining health and wellbeing. Cherished Pets identified that older Australian pet owners often miss out on the services provided by health and pet care systems because most organisations can’t support both pets and humans.
With increasing demand, the Cherished Pets team plan to expand their service offering by improving their business processes and focusing on investing in technology to further help clients.
