The Whiddon Group is a finalist in the 2018 HESTA Aged Care Awards
Whiddon is a large not-for-profit organisation that cares for older Australians across regional, rural and remote NSW and QLD.
Supporting clients and residents to be as independent as possible, Whiddon ensures care is always directed by their needs and wishes.
Whiddon has developed a number of innovative programs that focus on improving the well-being of aged care residents through relationship-based care, social connection and creative ageing programs. They include HenPower, which incorporates chickens as pets in their aged care homes.
“At Whiddon, making a difference to the lives of the people we care for is at the very centre of what we do best,” says CEO of The Whiddon Group Chris Mamarelis.
"Whiddon has long been acknowledged as a people-centric, innovative and industry leading organisation. I am really excited, for everyone involved, that Whiddon has been named a finalist in the Hesta Aged Care Awards and especially congratulate our outstanding people, who are at the very heart of all we do.
"I thank the Whiddon team for the energy and devotion they put in every day to make this nomination possible, and for creating exceptional impact through their incredible work.
"The prize money would help us to enhance Whiddon’s wellbeing and creative ageing programs, programs developed and/or run by Whiddon for all of our residents and clients, such as HenPower and VintageBites."
